Bo Nau Grotto is one of the famous landscapes on Halong Bay. It is similar to other caves in the karst system of Halong, Bo Nau still keep its primary beauty.
Location of Bo Nau Grotto:
The cave belongs to Halong Bay. It is far 15 kms from Bai Chay beach, and located in the west-north of Bo Hon Island. Especially, Bo Nau lies in the complex of beauty spots with Sung Sot, Luon caves, Ti Top island… However Bo Nau has not invested too much as a tourism destination. So the cave is still one of the most untouched attractions on Halong Bay.
Nowadays, people can find out the vestiges of prehistoric human. In the last are of the cave, you can see three big stalagmites that looks like imagine of a match of three olds.
About the name “Bo Nau Grotto”:
Local people say that they had used to dye sails by a kind of plant with Quả Nâu name. That is reason why the grotto is called by “Bồ Nâu” name up to now.
What to see at Bo Nau Grotto?
You can find Bo Nau Grotto when you go more about 3 kilometers from Kissing Islet at the Eastern South. It has not been exploited, so the Grotto has still kept its first beauty.
Bo Nau looks like a vaulted entrance with circa 200 square meters. Its bottom is large but short; and the round wall is lumpy with a horde of big and small stalactites. Specially, there is a chick which sun light can pass through in the ceiling of the grotto. The bottom is constried and the view from door is an island. For this reason, Bo Nau is never too bright.
When entering Bo Nau, you will see three big stones that bring the shade of three fairy-mans. They are having a thorny game of chess.
